I started my teaching career during May 1984 at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. I taught Courses like: Control Systems Engineering , Numerical Methods and Programming with FORTRAN-IV, Non-Conventional Energy Sources and Utilisation, Engineering Thermodynamics, Applied Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Fluid ynamics, Programming with C, Finite Element Methods ,CAD/CAM/CAE and CNC Technology and Programming. I trained students on Engine Testing, FORTRAN-IV Programming ,C-Programming, 2D Modelling using Autocad , 3D Modelling using Pro/Engineer and FE Analysis using ANSYS.
I was known as a great teacher and a large number of students underwent my courses.
During this period I authored 9 books that include : Non-Conventional Energy Sources and Utilisation, Engineering Thermodynamics, Applied Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Mechanical Measurements, CAD/CAM/CAE, Control Systems Engineering, C-Programming. Numerical Methods and Computer Programming with FORTRAN. In addition, a number of Laboratory Manuals were authored for the benefit of students.
I supervised more than 60 undergradaute students projects and my students could win a number of project awards at National level.
During June 1999, I became the Founder Director of the " M. S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies" . Later in 2011 I was re-designated as President of M. S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies. At School of Advanced studies, I took the lead to create new postgraduate programmes to meet the human resources requirements of multinational companies that were being established in large number in Bangalore.I took the initiative of learning a number of new courses and offering them to the new generation engineering graduates. At M S Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies I taught: Thermodynamics and combustion, Turbomachinery Design, Fluid Dynamics, Power Train Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics, Handling and Simulation,Noise. Vibration and Harshness, Vehicle Aerodynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics.
During this period I started providing training in courses like Vehicle Dynamics, Power Train Engineering, Control Systems Engineering for companies likeTata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services,Mahindra, Eicher Motors, General Electric, Volvo, Honeywell Laboratories, Infosys,Bosch India,SKF Bangalore
and Many more
I must have trained more than 1000 engineers from Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Eischer Motors alone during this period During this period I supervised more than 50 postgraduate dissertations and a few PhDs
.
On 8th January 2014, I became the Founder Vice Chancellor of M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. As a Vice Chancellor, I developed the organisation, created the faculties and recruited people for all the key positions and implemented
• Choice Based Credit System
• Outcome Based Education and Learner Centric Practices
• Project Based Learning Practices
• MOOCs as a tool for Training for Lifelong Learning
• Diagnostic tests for differentiating learning abilities
• Minors for Advanced Learners
• Credit Management for Slow Learners and Extra Contact Hours
• Library of Video Lectures
• Open elective to enlarge students’ horizon
• Opportunities for Study Abroad
• Opportunities for semester abroad or year abroad
• World Class Learning Facilities
• Developed 25 industry relevant, highly popular master’s programme in Engineering
• Created diverse faculties in the University and made to work towards a common goal
• Blended Education-Flipped Learning and Online Education
• Online Proctored Examination
• NAAC Accreditation documentation and NIRF documentation
During this period my focus was more on faculty development and Teaching and Learning methods. As such I did not teach any courses during this period, however, I continued to conduct training courses for companies and faculty members I left the position of Vice Chancellor and Ramaiah group of Institutions on 31st May 2018 with more than 34 years of dedicated service which I did it passionately.
Subsequent to relinquishing the position of Vice Chancellor at M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, I worked as a Dean-IQAC at REVA University Bangalore for a two months period (June2018-August 2018), Pro-Vice Chancellor-PES University for 8 months ( September 2018- March 2019 ) where I introduced Virtual Laboratory practices and also I taught a course on Automobile Engineering; Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dayananda Sagar University for 11 months ( April 2019- February 2020) worked on NAAC Documentation and Virtual Teaching. Returned to REVA University as Pro-Vost during March 2020 and later Advisor-Technical at REVA University. In the month of August 2021, I joined as Executive Director of East Point group of Institutions and worked till October 31, 2022. All these positions I took on invitation basis.
