Gokula Education Foundation (GEF) established the M S Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (MSRSAS) in 1999. The goal of the School was to offer industry-relevant post-graduate programs in Engineering in collaboration with the Coventry University of the UK.
The School offered 22 post-graduate programs leading to M.Sc.[Engg.] Degree from Coventry University and Doctoral program in Engineering leading to Ph.D. Degree. In addition, School offered training, competency, and skill development programs for engineering graduates, and corporate training courses for practicing engineers from major companies in India.
The School had established a Consultancy Centre- SAS Tech, which executed more than 600 projects for various industries, research, and business establishments. A TIFAC-CORE in Digital Image Processing was established, with financial grants from TIFAC, and DST-GoI. TIFAC-CORE undertook path-breaking engineering product development work such as Micro Air Vehicles, Obstacle Avoidance Systems, Programmable Driver-less Cars, Orthopedic Implants including hemipelvis, Blood Flow Simulation in Atherosclerosis cases, Bionic Hand, Haemostatic Drug Delivery Systems, and many such systems based on digital image processing. Several press notes and interviews appeared in "India Today" magazine and in many national dailies covering School achievements.
The School became a part of M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in 2014.
